Wind in your hair, map on the dash, friends in the backseat singing loud - Summertime is the perfect season for a good old fashioned road trip. America is home to some amazing scenic highways and destinations. We’ve searched high and low to bring you this list of 10 destinations for your next Great American Road Trip. Here they are in no particular order..
1. Big Sur, California. Highway 1.
90 miles of picturesque coastline featuring the highest cliffs in California. Take a hike, spot some waterfalls, and enjoy some of the local cuisine.
2. San Francisco, California. Highway 101.
There's plenty to do in San Fran. It's home to the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and thousands of unique restaurants. Plus all the houses look like the one from Full House.
3. Yosemite National Park, California. Highway 120.
Ansel Adams first visited this park in 1916 (at age fourteen) and returned every year throughout his life to snap pics. It's internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, and giant Sequoia groves.
4. Wave Canyon, Arizona. Highway 89.
This spectacular canyon is made of U-shaped troughs that have been eroded into the Navajo sandstone since the Jurassic age. Its a famous landmark for hikers and photographers for its colorful, undulating forms.

The Colorado River carved out this epic canyon in the Arizona Desert over a million years ago! It features some of the most breathtaking sunrises and sunsets in all of America.

Yellowstone was the world's first national park! Here you can find thousands of miles of hiking trails, over 300 geysers, and one of the world's largest petrified forests.
7. South Beach, Miami. Interstate 95.
Miami has it all. It's beach-town with a big-city feel. If you feel like driving some more, head down Highway 1 and explore Key West, which features some of the most picturesque beaches in the nation.
8. Niagra Falls, New York. Interstate 90.
One of the most unbelievable waterfalls in the USA. You can take a boat tour of the basin and then head over to Buffalo, NY for the infamous chicken wings.
9. Antelope Canyon, Arizona. Highway 89.
Formed by flash flood erosion, Antelope Canyon features two photogenic slot canyon sections - Upper Antelope and Lower Antelope. The sunset-colored rock formations are a must-see!

These red rocks give access to some of the most spectacular views in all of Colorado! Garden of the Gods has been described as "the most striking contrast between plains and mountains in all of North America."
