How to Design a Thanksgiving Thank You Card
Are you ready to get started on your own customized Thanksgiving thank you card? By following this step-by-step tutorial and adding your own creative style to your project, you’ll have an impressive thank you card in no time. Keep reading after the tutorial for some inspiring design ideas for your Thanksgiving thank you card.
Step 1: Choose Your Template
The first step is to visit BeFunky’s Graphic Designer by clicking this link. To find templates specific to your Thanksgiving celebrations, click Search Templates at the top left of the screen. Type in “Thanksgiving cards” to find the best results. The search brings up a wide variety of Thanksgiving-themed thank you cards for you to choose from.
When you’ve found the template you want to edit, click it. This will open a new window with a blue button reading Use This Template. Select the button to open the template in BeFunky’s Graphic Designer. Now you’re ready to start customizing!
Step 2: Update Your Photos & Background
Every element of your Thank You Card template is fully customizable. If the template you chose has an image on it, it’s easy to replace it with a photo of you and your loved one. To do so, open the Image Manager tab in the main menu on the left and use the Computer button to upload your favorite photos. If you would rather use a unique stock photo to bring out the character of your thank you card, click Search Stock Images to choose an image from BeFunky’s extensive stock photo library.
When you’ve uploaded a photo, it will appear on the left of the Image Manager. Double click or click and drag the image for it to appear in the template.
If you wish to change the background color of your card, you can choose any hue you want by opening the Customize tab from the left bar icon menu, directly below the Image Manager. Click the color tile next to Background Color to choose a new one, or use the Eye Dropper Tool to select any color that already exists on your template.
Step 3: Add Grateful Text
Now it’s time to customize your Thank You message! The text of your card expresses how thankful you are for your loved ones. Just click on the textbox to bring up a Text Properties menu for you to change the font, colors, and more.
Type your custom message in the box. Make sure when choosing the font and color of your text that they are both legible and fit the design of the template. Double click the text so it’s highlighted and then click the colored box in Text Properties to choose a new color.
For this example, we decided to stick with a simple and elegant font in black text. Next, let’s take a look at adding graphics to your Thanksgiving thank you card.
Step 4: Incorporate Graphics
BeFunky offers a huge selection of customizable design elements that you can add to your card. Click Graphics from the left icon menu, the second icon from the bottom. From here, you can choose to upload graphics from your computer by clicking the blue Computer button or choose a graphic from BeFunky’s many options by clicking Search Graphics.
Once you’ve selected graphics to add to your template, they will appear under Your Graphics on the left of the screen. Similar to how you added your image to the template during step 1, you can double click or click and drag the graphic for it to appear in the template.
When a graphic is selected, a Graphic Properties menu will appear on the left of the screen. Here, you can play around with the tint, shadow, and color of your graphics. Use the white circles that appear at the corners of the selected graphic to adjust its size.
Try getting creative with having some graphics cut off by the edge of the template. This can create a more fluid and unique look to the thank you card.
Step 5: Save Your Card
Once you’re satisfied with your design, it’s time to save your Thanksgiving Thank You Card! Click the Save button at the top of the Graphic Designer to save your Thank You Card to your computer.
Save your card as a PDF if you want to have it ready to print and as a web file if you’re sending a digital card this year!
